I miss they days when even the smallest release got at least a fan way decent dub such as the media blasters Y's titles. I'm glad Funimation dubs stuff, but I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of there dubs as I personally feel they are much like ADV dubs. Decent and get the job done, but massively overrated. Great blog, I enjoy reading your thoughts on the dubbing part of anime fandom since I'm a huge fan of both.Gaddes Reinharthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05460215940831256678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6077464351349923045.post-40645714494198460712010-04-19T20:21:23.887-07:002010-04-19T20:21:23.887-07:00@ ExcelGenerations: Okay, next time I'll quote...@ ExcelGenerations: Okay, next time I'll quote you directly!

@ bal-anime: I fear Durarara could be one of those five. It's fairly popular and in demand.

And I love that Rika pic! Every Higurashi fan needs to see that one at least once while we wait for the next season to come out here. (Stupid merger red tape.)

@ wilhelminaanime: I like that idea! I'm not a con goer but that sounds like an interesting move for those who can attend cons on a regular basis.

Please let me know how successful your attempts are and if you'd like me to put up any info on here about a planned dub brigade get-together at a specific con.Richard J.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02900584044204209540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6077464351349923045.post-12992778939885358832010-04-19T19:50:03.159-07:002010-04-19T19:50:03.159-07:00It's getting sad that dubs are going away. I don't think it's fair to say if it can't be on TV, let's not dub it.

I did discuss any idea with Bal-Anime, and he did like it. Like at anime cons, as long as it is peaceful and kept at a reasonable level. Have a group at anime cons, a "dub brigade" that says "dub it, dub it, dub it". That's about the best I can come up with.

Speaking of which, one way I'm going to help, is even buy anime that really isn't my cup of tea if it is dubbed.

Oh well, I hope the economy gets better and the dubs pick up drastically.wilhelminaanimehttp://wilhelminaanime.livejournal.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6077464351349923045.post-7091627436205503302010-04-17T17:34:27.868-07:002010-04-17T17:34:27.868-07:00Yeah seriously this topic just pisses me off... However, there is also a trend that fans want to see new titles as fast as possible. Making an English dub takes a long time and costs a lot, so we may miss the release timing for future releases. If a title has a chance for TV broadcasting, it is possible to create an English dub, however, we don't plan to make a dub version and release it later."
Is complete bull! These fans already watched it in Japanese ONLINE(legal or not...) get it out quick to them makes no damn sense... Plus this is GURREN LAGANN! It's mainstream and has been on TV! If this isn't being dubbed yeah you can bet your ass that their other 5 shows will see 0 dubs as well. Hurray?! for more half the job crap for Region 1...ExcelGenerationsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6077464351349923045.post-88186896863838312502010-04-17T16:53:04.032-07:002010-04-17T16:53:04.032-07:00I found Gurren Lagann to be a fun series, great du...I found Gurren Lagann to be a fun series, great dub as well. Of course, I have no interest in getting these movie anymore with a release model like that. I greatly fear for other series' Aniplex thinks this will work with (oh Durarara and Kara no Kyoukai, please don't fall victim to this! You have excellent dub potential!!)

It's true, it's a sad time to be a dub fan. FUNimation and Viz are the only companies that dub everything they get. And while Media Blasters is dubbing as much as they can, a few series are still being left behind into the realm of sub-only (poor Zetsubou-sensei). Bandai isn't dubbing anything that doesn't have Gundam or Haruhi in the title. And now Aniplex and NIS are jumping in and underestimating dubs.
At least Sentai's coming around and dubbing their best-sellers. (can't wait for Clannad~)

Thanks for the mention! And yeah, I really look forward to seeing Kanokon dubbed, should be quite a fun show to watch!

Even in this time of constant doom and gloom, we still have great dubs to look forward to. So I believe those who are still dubbing today deserve our biggest gratitude.

As for the final part. Series unlikely to be dubbed? Series that wouldn't be licensed without special support? Sounds like the definition of Kodomo no Jikan to me! I really like that show, but I do realize it's extremely unlikely to get licensed here, it's quite sad... But you never know what the future holds!

And yes, we must keep fighting onwards for dubs! As long as we fans exist, dubs shall never perish!
Fight On!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6077464351349923045.post-55570400791286607842010-04-17T14:07:56.314-07:002010-04-17T14:07:56.314-07:00ARGH!!! No way in hell do I buy into the mode that these movies can't sell. It's Gurren Lagann! If a mainstream show like this can't warrant a dub then how the hell can 75% of Funi's shows warrant a dub.

BTW Richard you can quote me all you want I am not shy. Love the blog.ExcelGenerationsnoreply@blogger.com
